I met with the Carter family over the weekend to capture some family photos out at the Japanese Gardens here in Toowoomba. Can I just say how much fun I had with these guys? Such a lovely family and I would love to work with them again in the future.
The kids had personality plus, and the girls especially had me giggling when they re-enacted the scene from Titanic at the front of the ship, which of course naturally led to the “don’t let go Jack!” part. I love to be a little bit silly with kids, as a bit of a muck around like above ALWAYS leads to some great natural shots without the “cheese” afterwards. I’m not ashamed of throwing a few fart jokes in, or pulling some ridiculous faces to get a giggle (or occasionally a “is this woman for real?).
It’s so great being able to draw out a kids natural personality and immortalising that in a photograph, there is something special about being able to look back at a photo of your kids and see that innocence, humour or sass that makes them so uniquely them. Those photos usually end up being the most treasured.
Here are just a few of my favourite shots of this gorgeous family, can someone say photogenic? (You can click on the image for an enlarged view).
